With an off-grid system, the energy that the solar panels produce during the day must be stored in batteries for use at night. A charge controller regulates the power going to the batteries so they don’t overcharge.
An inverter converts the DC power from the batteries to useable 120/240 volt power for common lights, appliances, etc. Off-grid systems are typically used for 3-season applications such as summer homes & cottages.
Kootenay Solar can size, design and install your off-grid system.
